After the final push to get the McDonald’s Monopoly game launched on Monday night, I worked from home yesterday. Will decided to get me out of the house for a while though and we walked over to South Street Seaport to get lunch.
It was unexpected to find the Wheat Foods Council’s “Urban Wheat Field Experience” taking up a good bit of the Seaport’s walkway. We were greeted by a large wheat harvesting machine as we entered the Seaport area followed by a “field” of different wheat varieties along with exhibits and demonstrations of the various things you can do with wheat. It was a very odd thing to stumble on in the middle of the NYC landscape… especially the Wall Streeters in their suits walking through the field.
Thank you for highlighting our urban wheat field on your blog site. We so enjoyed being in the heart of NYC and educating urban dwellers on their food sources. For more pictures and information on the wheat field, please visit our website at http://www.wheatfoods.org. Thanks again.
