Jeff recommends the latest episode of Rachael Herron’s How Do You Write? He also talks briefly about J. Thorn’s Supercharge Your Scene 5-Day Writing Challenge, which he will take part in next week. The guys continue their discussion on story structure with the “Falling in Love” phase from Gwen Hayes’s Romancing the Beat. Jeff wraps up the show by sharing the plot points he’s developed for those beats in his Christmas story.

Dear Jeff and Will (or Will and Jeff if you prefer),
I’m in the middle of writing my very first M/M romance novel, and your podcast has been an endless treasure trove of wisdom for me. Thanks for your hard work and dedication in putting out a quality product that never ceases to inform and entertain. You mentioned The Hockey Player’s Heart several times, so I took a chance and read it this past weekend. Beautiful job! I really empathized with the characters, especially Aaron. I loved the cover just as much as the book. Who did it?
Jeff, I also read Somewhere on Makinac, and it brought back some bittersweet memories from my time as a student at a Christian college in 1980, when the movie Somewhere in Time came out and I took my girlfriend to see it. When I kissed her that night, all I could see was Christopher Reeve, and that was my first honest realization that I was lying to myself.
Thanks again to both of you for producing great podcasts and sharing your creative talents with the world.
Hello Chris!
Thanks so much for your message. Congrats on writing your first m/m romance. That’s exciting. Glad we’re able to give you some inspiration along the way. If there are any topics you’d like us to talk about, please let us know. We love getting suggestions on what we should discuss.
Thanks for reading our books too. Glad you liked them…and thanks for sharing your story related to “Mackinac” too. That goregous “Hockey Player’s Heart” cover is by Meredith Russell. You can find more of her work at http://meredithrussell.co.uk/portfolio
Good luck as you continue to write. Keep us posted on how it’s going. Are you doing Camp NaNoWriMo in July? We should connect on the NaNo site for that!
Take care!
J&W
