It’s November, so it’s time to get cracking on National Novel Writing Month for another round. I’ve done it a few other times, honestly I’ve lost count. There’ve been successful years, the first drafts of Hat Trick and Hat Trick 2 were written during NaNo, and not so successful ones where I either don’t finish or finish but have a story I don’t particularly like.
This year, NaNo is all about completing the first draft of Hat Trick 3: Penalty Shot. The draft is about 35,000 words currently, but it needs at least another 50k to tell the story. Since nothing would make me happier than to complete this draft during the month of November so that I can move on to editing, revising and submission, NaNo is the perfect vehicle to make it happen. It seems right, too, wrapping up the Hat Trick novel trilogy using the same methods that spawned the first two books.
You can keep up with my NaNoWriMo progress on the NaNo site via my profile page (if you’re doing NaNo we can also become buddies there). I’ll also be updating progress, staring November 1, on my Works In Progress Diary. You’ll find an official NaNo badge there that will keep my word count updated.
Happy NaNoWriMo everyone!
