The musical Lestat played for two months in the spring of 2006 at the Palace theater on the corner of Broadway and 47th Street. The show, based on Anne Rices Vampire Chronicles with music by Elton John and lyrics by his longtime collaborator Bernie Taupin, was a huge flop. We saw the show, and while it had some good parts (especially Carolee Carmello as Gabrielle) it was really a big mess.
The memory of the show suddenly lives on though.
Three weeks ago on Heroes, when Peter ended up in New York City 2008, what’s behind him in Times Square? The marquee for Lestat.
It also shows up in the new Disney movie Enchanted in the background of the Times Square shots.
It’s proof that vampires really do live forever!
