We made our first ever gingerbread house (and not just our first as a couple, but a first for either one of us). We got one of those basic kits and did some of the assembly last night and then more today.
The front and left panel were decorated by Will. Will also whipped up some additional icing to paste over the roof so it could be completely covered in snow.
The back and right panels were decorated by Jeff.
Here’s full-on front look of the house…
We learned a lot on gingerbread houses by watching Throwdown with Bobby Flay when he did the gingerbread competition. Most important we learned to decorate the panels before assembly. It was a good tip. It was hard enough doing anything right on a flat surface, can’t imagine what it would be like to decorate when the house was already standing.
