It’s June and that means it’s LGBT Pride Month. This month’s Geek Outs will have some sort of gay theme to them in honor of Pride Month. I’m starting off with Dolly Parton’s Oscar-nominated “Traveling Thru” from the film Transamerica. The film was about a pre-operative male-to-female transsexual (played by Oscar nominee Felicity Huffman) who takes an unexpected journey when she learns that she fathered a son who needs help. It was an amazing story of someone trying to figure out where they fit.
Dolly’s song captured this theme beautifully. I’ve had this song on my iPod for a couple years now and anytime it cycles up I sit back and enjoy Dolly’s singing and the song’s message. Here’s the video… I hope you enjoy the song as much as I do.
