Looking back over 2011 one of the things that became abundantly clear is that I waste a lot of time. I accomplish a lot, but there’s a lot of time that is not put to its best use.
For 2012 the overall goal is to ensure that I use my time the best way possible.
That doesn’t mean there won’t be times where I’m just kicking back to veg in front of the TV, or something similar. Relaxation is important as a way to recharge. But it needs to be a deliberate choice, not just something to do because I can’t make up my mind to do something else.
I tried for this in 2011 and did pretty well in the first half of the year, but I stopped asking “why” I was doing things with my time. Simply put, I got lazy.
This year there are things to accomplish in many categories: writing, cycling, hockey, fitness, a bit of travel, volunteering and, most likely, a move to accomplish in the spring since Will and I are ready for a change of scenery in the city. It’s all doable, without stress. It’s all a matter of using waking time in smart ways.
That’s the plan for the next 366 days. What’s your plan?
