Diversity has been a top-of-mind topic in romance the past few weeks. We’ve been paying attention and Will found the right words to talk about it on this week’s podcast. I loved the letter to our listeners that he wrote and am glad he shared it on the show. I completely agree with what he said. I often make my book selection on a whim, but I am going to seek out more books from authors of color and featuring diverse characters. Not only will it be an opportunity to read new-to-me-authors, but for the books I enjoy it’ll be a chance to offer some signal boost as well with the hope that others will give them a try. I’m hopeful that our podcast audience will also seek out books by authors of color and tell me about them too.
This week we also welcome Mary Calmes to the podcast. She gave me the scoop on her latest book, Twisted and Tied and we talked about her writing process to, which I enjoyed hearing about. I also review City Boy, a book with a hockey player so you know I’m into that, by A.E. Wasp. Will also has a bear shifter/mpreg book from Kiki Burrelli.
