I ended up working late tonight in my office on 38th & 6th. We’ve always got a great view looking south at the Empire State Building. Tonight the southern view including the twin beams of light that are visible from dusk to dawn on 9/11. I snapped this quick picture. It’s not great, but you get the idea with the red/white/blue topped Empire State Building and the light beams in the distance.

Was yesterday somber in the city?
Yes, it was somber, especially in the morning. Even the subway stopped at 8:40 for the moment of silence. It wasn’t as somber as say the fifth anniversary a couple years ago… but yeah, it was a bit more quiet.
