Somehow, along the way, without me realizing it, I became a gym bunny (or a gym queen, I can’t deny either title). The are several reasons for this, but the main one is that I hate being sick and I value my health. If I take care of my body, it will take care of me. I’ve had success with the current workout program I’ve been using, but I wanted to switch things up a bit. I needed something new that was challenging but uncomplicated and straightforward. Finding something that I was interested in proved to be a challenge. So, for my birthday, I asked Jeff to get me the P90X system. You’ve probably seen the infomercials on TV. It looked to me like a great way to learn some new stuff and recharge my workouts. I started today and boy howdy, “extreme home fitness” doesn’t even begin to cover it. I’ll be blogging every week about my thoughts on the program and how I’m progressing. Jeff btw is doing it too. In 90 days we’ll both be lean, mean… well, I guess we’ll just be leaner and meaner. Wish us both luck!

P90X is great but it’s pretty advanced. I started with the P90 system and worked my way up. The fact that you’re an avid hockey player may help. One thing I don’t like about P90X is that you need to have a way to do pull ups at home and I don’t have that. Also, you need to have a little more room than you do for P90 (again, I don’t have it).
That said, there are some good workouts for P90X. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Yoga DVD. It’s my favorite yoga workout and does wonderful things to my back. It’s the P90X video I use more than any other.
Oops, sorry, thought Jeff posted this. Sorry, Will, as you’re not an avid hockey player, you will fail miserably at P90X.
(Kidding.)
Well, as Will said, I’m doing it too. I also started this morning and was impressed at the intensity. It felt good. Though I have to say that I am pull-up challenged to a huge degree. I’ll be working on that though.
With the system, I bought a pull-up bar that can hang over a doorframe. We put it up in the kitchen doorway when we’re working out. The goal by the end of the 90 days for me is that I rock the pull-up par.
