On this week’s show Jeff & Will discuss their trip to New York and review the eight musicals they saw: The King & I, Shuffle Along Or The Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921 and All That FollowedWaitress, Tuck Everlasting, On Your Feet, She Loves Me and Disaster. 

Tammy Middleton stops by for a brief interview about her Authors “Sign Off” for Autism Awareness auction that runs all month and Jeff mentions that he’s added a book to the Hat Trick series that’s already up for auction.

Jeff reviews Ariel Tachna’s Unstable Stud before the guys talk about Nyle’s Tarzan Samba on Dancing with the StarsThe Voice’s cut to the Top 12 and the delightful Peanuts Movie. Jeff also calls out his participation in Diane’s Book Blog Hockey Romance Author’s Stanley Cup Bracket feature.

Episode 27’s Question of the Week is answered before the guys recap Rainbow Book Fair, which includes 13 quick author interviews they did with fair exhibitors.

Kicking off the show, Jeff’s Sweet and Sexy gay romance short story collection coming to paperback at the end of the month. Tammy Middleton’s Authors “Sign Off” for Autism Awareness auction is showcased with a reminder than more than 30 items are available with items from authors including Kindle Alexander, RJ Scott, Sara York, Rick R. Reed, Andrew Grey, Charlie Cochet, Rhys Ford and many more.

Among the other topics discussed are B.A. Tortuga’s book Trial by Fire, the movies The Martian and Karen Kingsbury’s The Bridge Part 2, Cookie Monster’s commercial for Siri and Sara Barellies’ stall for time during a recent preview of Waitress.

Episode 26’s Question of the Week isn’t recapped since the guys recorded this episode early, but the answers received are further down this page. Jeff & Will welcome author Clare London to the show. Clare talks about her latest releases, Branded and Double Scoop as well as her writing process and more. The show wraps up with a new Question of the Week, this one from listener Katie: “I have a friend who loves the darker side of m/m romance. Some favorites are Jack L. Pyke and Joseph Lance Tonlet. What are some others?”

This week the guys are getting ready for Rainbow Book Fair in New York City!

The show kicks off with a brief update on Jeff’s writing and the creation of a production schedule that goes into 2019. Next, they show off the Gay Sex Coloring Book and the picture Jeff colored. On the TV side, The VoiceDancing with the Stars and the Supergirl/Flash crossover episode are discussed.

April is Autism Awareness Month and friend-of-the-podcast Tammy Middleton is running her annual Authors “Sign Off” for Autism Awareness auction, which features an array of goodies to bid on from authors and publishers–including Jeff’s Hat Trick trilogy in paperback.

Jeff talks about Born for This by Chris Guillebeau and Jeff & Will wish the Love Bytes Review blog, run by Dani Maas, a very happy third Anniversary. The guys go over some answers to last episode’s Question of the Week. Casey at the Bat creator Bob Glasscock joins the show for an interview about the comic, what inspired him to create Casey and what is process is for writing and drawing it. Bob also asks this week’s question: “What comics do you like to read online? Long form? Sci-Fi epics? Gag-a-day?”

Big Gay Fiction Podcast – Episode 25 – Introvert Entrepreneur, “Carol,” Nyle on “DWTS” & More!

The guys have a whole bunch of random topics this week. Jeff starts off talking about the projects he’s editing right now and then it’s about the book he finished reading last week–Symptoms of Being Human by Jeff Garvin. The other book discovery is Gay Sex Positions: An Adult Coloring Book, which they’ve ordered and Will shows off the sample page he’s colored. Moving on to TV, they talk about The Voice battle rounds, La’Porsha Renae on American Idol, Kim Fields and Nyle DiMarco on Dancing with the Stars as well as The Passion Live on Fox.

Last week’s Question of the Week on podcasts is answered before the guys dive into two podcasts they listened to that had an impact: The Creative Penn’s interview with Beth Buelow about her book Introvert Entrepreneur and The Self Publishing Podcasts‘ discussion of “How to Be Happy Where You Are in Your Writing Career.”

The Academy Award nominated film Carol, starring Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara, is praised. Jeff also discusses the upcoming #40toNoneDay, which raises awareness about LGBT youth homelessness. The show wraps up with the new Question of the Week: “How often do you browse physical bookstores for books?” and a look ahead to the Rainbow Book Fair, coming up April 9 in NYC.

Next up, gay romance author Kris Cook and poptart Chadrick Douglas from the Romance Out Loud podcast join the show to talk about the origin of their show, Kris’ books and what Chadrick’s digging in the world of pop culture. Jeff & Will wrap up by answering the Kris and Chadrick’s Question of the Week: “What podcasts are you listening to?”

Big Gay Fiction Podcast – Episode 22 – Sarina Bowen Interview, “Hat Trick” Anniversary & More

The guys talk about what they’re looking forward to at the Dreamspinner author conference in Orlando, as well as the brainstorming they’ve been doing to prepare for a pitch they’re going to make on a trilogy they’ll write together. Jeff takes a moment to talk about this week’s Hat Trick anniversary–it was three year’s ago that he signed the contract for the first novel. He also mentions the series being mentioned on Brandilyn’s Top 10 LGBT Fiction list that was released on February 28. Since the episode was recorded early, the listeners were referred to this page to see the answers to the question “As a reader, what’s your favorite POV and why?”

Jeff introduced USA Today best-selling author Sarina Bowen and called out the success that the book Us is already having while it’s in pre-order. Sarina then joined to talk about the upcoming book, which releases on Tuesday, March 8, as well as her writing process with Elle Kennedy and what’s coming up for her later this year (including the first book in the new Brooklyn Bruisers series). Sarina also asks the Question of the Week: “Which character archetypes are you just done with?”
