Jeff & Will kick off the week talking about books they’ve finished–The Stolen Suitor by Eli Easton and Writing to the Point by Algis Budrys. Jeff discusses his withdrawal pains over the lack of new Hallmark Channel original movies. The guys discuss their disappointment with The X-Files six episode event and look at this week’s announcement that Samhain Publishing is shutting down. There’s an update on Chris Fox’s 21 Day Novel Writing Challenge and the guys talk about heading off the Dreamspinner author conference this week.

Last week’s Question of the Week is recapped with some answers from the listeners as well as additional commentary (you can see all the responses below). Will interviews Jeff about the writer’s group he is part of and how it’s become part of his process. The new Question of the Week is also unveiled: “As a reader, what’s your favorite POV and why?” Answers to the question can be left in the comments section below.

Big Gay Fiction Podcast – Episode 19 – Behind the Scenes of Self Publishing, “Dolls” turns 50 & More!

This week the guys kick off the show calling out the new sites where the podcast is available. Jeff recaps the amazing week of reviews he had for Make the Right ChoiceA Sound Beginning and Hat Trick 3: Penalty Shot/Hat Trick Overtime: Reunion. Then it’s time to talk about the books they’ve read: Andrew Grey’s The Lone Rancher, Eli Easton’s The Stolen Suitor and Sarina Bowen & Elle Kennedy’s Us (Sarina will be on the show March 7 to talk about that book). Will celebrates the 50th Anniversary of Valley of the Dolls and gives a shout out to his sister, Jessica, who has a book in KindleScout called Awash in Talent. They also review the answers to last week’s Question of the Week (you can see all the answers below).

Jeff and Will both read Chris Cook’s Write to Market: Deliver a Book that Sells and the talk about that and how it relates to the one year anniversary of the release of Jeff’s first self-published title, Flipping for Him. Self-publishing also leads to this week’s Question: “Does who publishes a book affect your purchase decision?”

Jeff talks about his new releases available this week: Make the Right Choice from JMS Books and A Sound Beginning from Pride Publishing. There is a Rafflecopter giveaway for a free ebook of Make the Right Choice below. The guys also talk about why Will returned an ebook to Amazon, how awesome Fox’s Grease Live! was and the 2013 movie In Secret starring Elizabeth Olsen, Tom Felton, Oscar Isaac and Jessica Lange. Jeff talks about the books he read over the past week–a beta copy of Wade Kelly’s third book in her Jock series as well as an ARC he can’t really discuss right now but was swooning over. Will also shows off the February issue of Out which features Tom Daly and Dustin Lance Black as the cover boys for the Love issue.

The guys recap last week’s Question of the Week (and you can see all the responses for that below) before they bring back author and publisher J.M. Snyder for the second part of their interview with her. The show wraps up with the Question of the Week, this time from J.M.: “What’s your favorite read outside the m/m genre?”

Big Gay Fiction Podcast – Episode 17 – J.M. Snyder Interview – Superheroes & More!

Jeff and Will kick off the episode with a brief review of January. Jeff talks about the Capolavoro di uomo | Masterpiece of Man coffee table book he recently got, which features profiles of artists of gay erotic art. Will talks about how he got back into coloring, which has become a fad recently with many coloring books now available for adults. The guys also talk about superheroes TV–SupergirlThe Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow and Agent Carter. Last week’s question of the week is discussed, and Eileen is revealed as the winner of Jordan Nasser’s signed paperbacks.

Author and publisher J.M. Snyder is welcomed to the show for part one of her interview. She talks about her history as an author along with the origin story of her “micropress” JMS Books. We talk about the new JMS Books’ Love Wins series, which rolls out starting February 7 (and includes Jeff’s Make the Right Choice) as well as what JMS Books looks for in the titles it publishes and what’s  coming up later this year.

The show rounds out with this week’s Question of the Week: “What is your preferred size/length for the books you read?” You can answer the question in the comments below.

Big Gay Fiction Podcast – Episode 16 – Jordan Nasser Interview

Jeff and Will kick off the show wishing well all the listeners  who endured Winter Storm Jonas over the past weekend. Jeff honored the 20th Anniversary of the musical Rent, his favorite musical ever, which opened at New York Theatre Workshop on January 25, 1996. The guys discussed the new series on BBC America, London Spy. They also gave a shoutout to The Satyrsphere podcast, which gave BGFP a mention in its most recent episode. Answers to last week’s question of the week were read out and then Jeff and Will welcomed author Jordan Nasser to the show. Jordan talked about his debut novels, Home is a Fire and The Fire Went Wild along with what his initial foray into publishing was like and what his future plans are.
